Ilocos Norte folk avail of gov't services, receive aid in Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair
LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte – Thousands of Ilocos Norte residents availed themselves of assistance and services from the different government agencies during the opening day of the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair (BPSF) at the Ilocos Norte Centennial Arena near the Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) here on Saturday, September 23.

The weekend BPSF was led by Rep. Ferdinand Alexander “Sandro” Marcos III with Gov. Matthew Marcos Manotoc who welcomed residents, visitors, and officials from different government agencies.
Marcos thanked participants of the BPSF and said this event is one of the flagship and prosperity programs of his father, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., that brings all the services of the government to the people to the grassroots level.
The BPSF in Ilocos Norte was part of the simultaneous national launching of the program led by President Marcos Jr. in Camarines Sur. The other venues were Monkayo, Davao de Oro, led by Vice President Sara Duterte, and Visayas State University spearheaded by House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez.
Rep. Marcos said the BPSF will group all the programs and services from the national government for the people in one venue.
The Ilocos Norte BPSF brought more than 60 government services to residents starting at 7 a.m.
A Kadiwa Caravan was also conducted during the BPSF showcasing for sale at low cost locally produced farm products from this province.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) initially distributed at least P100-million assistance to residents of this province during the first day of the BPSF.
DSWD Assistant Secretary Ada Colico said at least 31,000 residents received P3,000 each as Assistance to Individual in Crisis Situation (AICS) and another P8.2-million worth of livelihood assistance.
Colico said that the recipients of the payout were validated by the local government units and the DSWD. She is expecting more recipients of AICS on Sunday, September 24.
The Ilocos Norte police deployed more than 590 police officers to secure the event.
The BPSF in Ilocos Norte will end with thanksgiving concert featuring local bands and artists.
The government is seeking to replicate the BPSF in every province with the goal of speeding up the delivery of government services to the depressed and farthest places.
The program is one of several flagship programs and projects being launched under the all-inclusive Bagong Pilipinas brand of governance and leadership campaign, highlighting the administration’s commitment towards the attainment of comprehensive policy reforms and full economic recovery.
