Through the program, vehicles will not be allowed to pass through Ayala Avenue from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m every Sunday from September until December.

The “car-free” initiative is part of Ayala Land and Makati City’s efforts and commitment to creating a healthier, more livable, and family-friendly city.

The initiative was earlier announced just for the whole month of September, but was extended due to the “overwhelming response and support of communities,” said Make It Makati.

The extension until December will allow residents to continue their Sunday morning fitness programs in the area, such as biking, running, walking their pets, and doing recreational activities.

"Together, let’s continue enjoying the freedom of open streets, fostering healthier lifestyles, and uniting our community of runners, walkers, bikers, pet owners, furbabies, and skaters every Sunday," it added.

The initiative was launched on Sept. 10, with kickoff festivities including a five-kilometer fitness run and yoga sessions for all who joined.

Some of the attendees who joined and gathered at Ayala Avenue were cyclists, runners, residents living near, and visitors from across Metro Manila.
