23 students in Isabela 'possessed by evil spirit'

CAUAYAN CITY, Isabela – Twenty-three students of the Reina Mercedes National High School in Reina Mercedes, this province, were allegedly possessed by an evil spirit on Friday, September 22.

Department of Education (DepEd)-Isabela Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Rachel Llana said they have sent a clergy to Reina Mercedes to probe the incident. The LGU of Reina Mercedes is also conducting a parallel probe on the incident.

Llana said they and the local government unit have held a Mass in the school.

She advised parents to keep calm and strengthen their faith in God and hoped that the incident would not happen again.

Jeffrey Ancheta, a school teacher, said that he was about to start class at about 1 p.m. when one of his students suddenly lost consciousness.

The student was taken to the airconditioned principal’s room to rest but then lost her emotions.

Ancheta said about 22 other students followed and they, too, lost consciousness and their emotions and some were crying.

The students reportedly went home after the evil spirit left them.

After the incident, the school asked the clergy to pray and protect the students.
