Around 200 bicycle riders participated in the "Kalyesugan: Proactive Streets For Healthier Living" bike ride event on Saturday, Sept. 23 in Pasig City to celebrate World Car-Free Day and World Environmental Health Day.

The event held at the Emerald Avenue in Ortigas, Barangay San Antonio brought together bike riders and bicycle enthusiasts who are seeking the transformation of Pasig into a healthier and bike-friendly city.
The program, organized by the Pasig City Health Department (CHD) and City Transportation Development and Management Office (CTDMO) aimed to promote and encourage the public to use bicycles to help reduce carbon emissions in the city and improve their overall health and wellness.
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto and Dr. Pretchell Tolentino, assistant regional director of the Department of Health (DOH)'s Metro Manila Center for Health Development (MMCHD) graced the event, lending their support to the bikers and the cause.

Sotto assured the biking community of the local government's support to the city's health advocacies, while Dr. Tolentino echoed the call for a "cleaner, greener, and healthier" Pasig.
Adults and children alike joined the event, guided by members of bike groups such as Bicycle Friendly Philippines, Pinay Bike Commuter Community, and Pasig Siklisto Pilipino.
Despite intermittent rainfall, the bike ride continued and was finished successfully.
Aside from the community leisure bike ride, the event also offered free bike lessons to interested learners, and a barangay zumba activity.
