Solar Tanauan Corp.’s solar power plants are set to be Batangas and Cavite’s new renewable energy source.

The solar plants of Tanauan, Batangas, and Maragondon, Cavite are expected to hold a gross capacity of 140 megawatts.

It was estimated that 84,000 households will be powered by renewable energy. Furthermore, 100,000 tons of coal per year will be displaced.

Solar Tanauan, under Prime Infrastructure Capital Inc., aims to transition parts of Cavite and Batangas province into utilizing sustainable power. They are also responsible for operating essential infrastructures concerning water, sustainable energy, and waste management.

Through advanced project design, execution tools, and strategies, the company was able to use digital twin technology, document the plant implementation progress through drones, optimize string sizing, and monitor the site and plant factory for 24/7 quality and assurance control.

In an event held last Tuesday, Sept. 19, Prime Infra President and CEO Guillaume Lucci lauded the advanced execution and strategy that brought solar powers to the country.

“This celebration is a testament to Prime Infra’s approach in deploying renewable energy projects and reaffirms our commitment to pioneer innovative solutions towards a clean energy future,” he said.

They have also done a Front End Engineering Design (FEED) which efficiently moved the construction phases of the plants, packaged contracting and owner-supplied materials, optimized risk allocation, and simplified complex earthwork assessment through software use.

Prime Infra and Solar Tanauan have also collaborated with key government stakeholders and project suppliers, consultants, and contractors to push the progress of the power plants even further.

“The reason we’ve reached this point is also that we work extremely collaboratively with government and with the communities, and that’s not simply us as a developer but applies to all our partners and suppliers,” Lucci explained.

There to witness the solar plant's progress were government officials and representatives of Prime Infra and Solar Tanauan.

Also present were Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla, Batangas Representative Ma. Theresa Collantes, Tanauan Mayor Sonny Collantes, and Department of Energy (DOE) Management Bureau Director Marissa Cerezo.

These stakeholders also commended and welcomed the company’s efforts in equipping Batangas and Cavite with renewable energy.

“Not only is this concrete shift to solar energy a practical solution today, but it is also an environmentally conscious choice whose impact on our shared ecosystem is positive and will secure our fellowmen a better tomorrow,” Collantes said.

Collantes also highlighted the public and private sectors’ collaboration that secures a brighter future for their residents.

"We need to have progress in cities like Tanuan, in provinces like Batangas, so that we can attract more investors who will bring jobs for our people," he said.

Guests from Meralco, PowerChina, Hansei, Terabase Energy, STS, Canadian Solar Inc., Clenergy, and AFRY also celebrated the successful progress of the plant construction. (Gabriell Christel Galang)
