Several parts of EDSA, Metro Manila flooded anew

Several areas in Metro Manila were flooded as a result of the heavy downpour triggered by a low pressure area and the southwest monsoon, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) reported on Saturday, Sept. 23.

The deepest flood reported at 12 noon was in front of the EDSA Gate 3 of Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City with 14 inches deep, according to MMDA field personnel.

Almost an hour later, the MMDA said the fllod in front of the Gate 3 of Camp Aguinaldo was already as high as the concrete barrier of the EDSA Carousel.

The flooding affected the flow of traffic in the area based on the 12 noon report of MMDA. 

At the northbound lane of Ortigas Flyover, the flood was at six inches while gutter deep flood was monitored at the northbound lane side of Santolan Flyover on EDSA.

Five inches deep was also monitored at the corner of Araneta Avenue and E. Rodriguez Avenue while four-inch deep flood was reported at the northbound lane of EDSA Balintawak.

At 12:51 p.m. around eight inches deep flood was monitored by the MMDA at the southbound lane of EDSA near Panay Avenue.

At 1:25 p.m., the MMDA reported that the flood at the northbound lane of EDSA near the Centris Mall was already at 10 inches while the flood at the Espana-Dela Fuente area was at 12 inches.

The MMDA also reported that the flood at the East Avenue near the National Kidney Institute was at 13 inches deep at 1:30 p.m.
