QC, Valenzuela, Malabon roads experience flooding due to inclement weather

Several roads in Quezon, Valenzuela and Malabon Cities were affected by heavy flooding due to southwest monsoon rains on Saturday, Sept. 23.

In Valenzuela City, the local government said that two to 20-inch deep flood affected areas along MacArthur Highway, as well as in different barangays as of 1:15 p.m. on Saturday.

Different roads in Malabon City were also affected by two to eight-inch deep flood as of 1 p.m.

According to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), the northbound lane of Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) near the Gate 3 of Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo was not passable to all types of vehicles as the said thoroughfare was hit by waist-deep flood as of 12:54 p.m.

Small vehicles may also not be able to traverse the northbound lane of Gregorio Araneta Avenue/Kaliraya Road due to flooding (half-tire deep) in the area.

Gutter-deep flood was experienced along the northbound lane of EDSA-Balintawak Market as of 12:25 p.m. The road was still passable to all types of vehicles.

As of 12:36 p.m., the southbound lane of EDSA- North Avenue also experienced gutter-deep flood but was still passable to all types of vehicles.

The Quezon City government said that different flood-prone areas in 20 barangays in the city were also submerged in knee to waist-deep flood as of 2 p.m.

Some 36 families from Barangays Roxas, Pinagkaisahan, and Damayang Lagi also took temporary shelter at the city's evacuation centers for their safety.
