DSWD encourages Filipinos to observe 31st National Family Week
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Saturday, Sept. 23, encouraged all Filipino families to observe this year’s "Kainang Pamilya Mahalaga Day" as part of the 31st National Family Week celebration.

The "Kainang Pamilya Mahalaga Day" will be observed on Sept. 25.
The event, dubbed "Pamilyang Pilipino: Pagtugon sa Nababagong Pananaw at Panahon," will highlight the "awareness of the demographic change and its profound impact on families."
"The DSWD encourages all Filipino families to set a time to bond with their families." Assistant Secretary for Strategic Communications Romel Lopez said in a statement. “This is one way of strengthening your communication and maintaining your relationship," he added.
DSWD pointed out that this simple yet meaningful activity makes a family strong and resilient, and will help them despite all the challenges they are experiencing.
The celebration will run from Sept. 25 to 29, in line with Presidential Proclamation No. 326, series of 2012, "encouraging Filipinos to spend mealtime with their families."
As part of the celebration, the DSWD will also hold the National Award for the Natatanging Pamilyang Pilipino (NPP) on Friday, Sept. 29.
DSWD said the NPP seeks to recognize and honor exceptional Filipino families that have made "significant contributions to nation-building and the development of the family" as the foundation of Philippine society.
Meanwhile, in support of this event, the Malacañang also issued Memorandum Circular (MC) No. 32 on Sept. 21, suspending work in government offices under the Executive branch from 3:00 p.m. onwards on Sept. 25.
