BUTUAN CITY – The Department of Tourism (DOT)-Caraga disclosed that 3,439 tourism frontliners have been trained under the Filipino Brand of Service Excellence (FBSE) since the program was launched in the region last January.
“Our FBSE has already gained ground in the tourism regional sector and local government units (LGUs) in Caraga region,” disclosed DOT-13 Director Ivonnie B. Dumadag on Thursday, September 21.
The DOT-13 targets around 6,250 tourism frontliners for FBSE training before yearend to revive the Filipino values of love, respect, and hospitality in the industry, Dumadag said.

“More tourism frontliners from resorts, hotels, and restaurants, transportation services, students, and LGUs are target of the FBSE training,” also said DOT-13 Tourism Operations Officer Kylee Doreene Q. Plaza.
DOT-13 officials said the FBSE, a flagship program of DOT Secretary Maria Christina Frasco, aims to equip tourism frontliners on how to deliver customer service anchored on Filipino values.
The FBSE was rooted in the 7 M’s of core values that Filipinos are widely known for – Malikhain, Makatao, Makakalikasan, Makabansa, Masayahin, May Bayanihan, and May Pag-asa.
“Our technical teams from DOT-Caraga Region13 are continuously conducting FBSE training in the different places spread in the five provinces and six cities in Caraga region with the hope of attaining our target number this year,” Dumadag said.
The town of Nasipit in Agusan del Norte, through the Municipal Tourism Office, successfully conducted the FBSE training.
Resource speaker was DOT accredited trainer and former DOT-13 Director Leticia DC Tan.
The DOT-13 operations and monitoring center disclosed that at least four LGUs – two on the municipal and another two on the provincial levels – have adopted the FBSE in their areas through legislation and ordinances.
