Woman held after bra yields suspected shabu

CEBU CITY – A 28-year-old woman was held after a plastic sachet containing suspected shabu fell from her bra while being inspected at the Cebu City Jail Male Dormitory in Barangay Kalunasan here on Friday, September 22.

The name of the woman was withheld pending the result of the examination of the substance recovered from her possession.

Jail Officer 3 Blanche Aliño, spokesperson of the facility, said the woman was supposed to visit her live-in partner who was jailed for illegal drug charges.

A plastic sachet fell from the woman’s bra during a routine body search.

The woman said the sachet contained “tawas” or alum which she brought from a store for P1 on her way to the jail facility.

She said the tawas would be mixed with water that she will use to wash her private parts.

The item was turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Central Visayas for examination.

The woman was brought to the nearby police station pending the result of the examination.
