WATCH: Grateful Kathryn Bernardo receives Outstanding Asian Star Award
It was short but warm.
This sums up Kathryn Bernardo's speech after she received the Outstanding Asian Star at the Seoul International Drama Awards.
The 27-year-old began, "Hi, good evening everybody. My name is Kathryn Bernardo and I’m Filipina."
She continued, "When I initially found out about the nomination and recognition for my craft by such an esteemed award-giving body, that in itself is already a win for me."
Being there and personally receiving the honor from the South Korean-based organization felt "overwhelming" and "surreal" for her.
Kathryn was acknowledged for her role in the romantic comedy series "2 Good 2 Be True."
She then took a moment to thank those behind the project, including co-stars Daniel Padilla and Ronaldo Valdez, as well as director Mae Cruz-Alviar. She dedicated the recognition to them.
Kathryn later mentioned her affection for "2 Good 2 Be True" because of its "unique storyline."
"It’s always been more than just sharing about a love story to our audience, but also spreading awareness on Alzheimer’s disease and educating people about those who struggle with it and how we can offer them the best support they need," she explained.
"So this project made me appreciate our nurses and healthcare workers, so it was really more than just another TV show for me," she emphasized.
Kathryn concluded with the hope of continuing to create "world-class" projects not only for Filipinos but for a global audience.
"I am so proud and humbled to be on the stage representing Filipino talent and being a Filipina. This means so much to me," she emphasized. "Again, thank you so much. From the bottom of my heart, maraming, maraming salamat po."
