LPA forms east of Luzon; scattered rain showers to affect most of PH
The cloud clusters east of Luzon developed into a low pressure area (LPA) on Friday afternoon, Sept. 22, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
As of 3 p.m., the LPA was located 125 kilometers east-northeast of Infanta, Quezon.
PAGASA said the combined effects of the LPA and the southwest monsoon, or “habagat,” may bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to Luzon, Visayas, Caraga, Northern Mindanao, and Zamboanga Peninsula.
Flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains are possible in these areas, PAGASA warned.
Meanwhile, the rest of Mindanao may have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
PAGASA also advised the public to exercise caution during severe thunderstorms, as these may trigger landslides or flash floods, particularly in high-risk areas.
