The Philippine women’s national football team blasted Hong Kong in the waning minutes of the second half for its debut win, 3-1, in the 19th Asian Games on Friday, Sept. 22, at the Wenzhou Sports Centre Stadium in China.

The world No. 44 Filipinas overcame a stalemate at the break before Quinley Quezada and Katrina Guillou fired back-to-back goals in the final minutes of the match to secure the victory and give newly appointed head coach Mark Torcaso his first win with the squad.
It was the FIFA Women’s World Cup debutants' maiden appearance at the Asiad and their second time meeting the Hong Kong side this year, which they defeated in the AFC Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament, 4-nil, last April to march into the next round.
Filipinas forward Sarina Bolden converted a penalty kick to open the scoring in the ninth minute of the game to give the Philippines an early lead.
However, world No. 77 Hong Kong brought the match to a stalemate half an hour later as Wai Ki Cheung fired a brilliant left-footed goal outside the penalty box to stun Filipinas goalkeeper Olivia McDaniel.
Bolden continued her attempts to go for a brace, but her shot in the 54th minute hit the post which kept the scoreboard tied at 1-1.
The Nationals remained aggressive to regain the advantage until Quezada slotted in a goal at close range after scrambling inside the box in the 89th minute to put the Filipinas ahead once more.
It didn’t take long for Guillou to register a goal as the Philippines took a 3-1 lead with the dagger.
