Classes suspended in 3 provinces due to Taal Volcano vog


BATANGAS CITY – Classes in Cavite, Batangas, and Laguna were suspended on Friday, September 22, due to volcanic smog or vog from Taal Volcano.

Twenty-four areas in Cavite cancelled classes on all levels in public and private schools – Magallanes, Kawit, Ternate, Silang, Alfonso, General Emilio Aguinaldo (Bailen), General Trias, Mendez, Naic, Imus, Cavite City, Noveleta, Trece Martires, Maragondon, Tagaytay City, Dasmariñas City, Tanza, Rosario, Indang, Bacoor City, General Mariano Alvarez, Carmona, Amadeo, and Ternate.

On the other hand, classes in Agoncillo, Balayan, Calatagan, Lian, Nasugbu, and Lemery, Batangas, shifted to modular distance learning while Tanauan City, Balete, San Nicolas, and Tuy, also in Batangas, suspended classes on all levels.

In Laguna, classes on all levels in public and private schools in San Pedro City, Biñan City, Cabuyao City, Calamba City, Santa Rosa City, and San Pablo City were suspended.

The Batangas Police Provincial Office alerted police stations particularly in affected towns in the province to closely monitor the status of Taal Volcano.

Police have intensified patrols to ensure that residents would not go to Taal Volcano.

The Batangas police have prepared a contingency plan for the possible eruption of Taal.

The 14  police stations surrounding Taal Volcano are on standby and search, rescue, and retrieval team are being readied for deployment.
