The provincial government of Bulacan, through the Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO), spayed and castrated a total of 231 cats and dogs during the Veterinary Medical Mission held at The Pavilion, Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center in this city last Wednesday, Sept. 20.
According to PVO Head Dr. Voltaire G. Basinang, the program aims to open the eyes of Bulakenyo pet lovers to responsible pet ownership.

“Dito natuturuan natin silang maging responsableng tagapag-alaga ng aso at pusa. Dahil doon maiiwasan natin ang rabies, maiiwasan din natin ang pagdami ng mga aso at pusang gala,” (We taught them how to become responsible dog and cat owners, how to avoid rabies as well as the loitering of their pets)," the provincial veterinarian said.
Basinang also said that free neutering is available in their office located inside the Provincial Capitol Compound every Monday.
Meanwhile, Daisy Delos Santos from San Pablo, City of Malolos, brought her two adopted cats and her neighbor’s cat to the event and thanked the Provincial Government for programs intended to help pet owners in the province.
The Veterinary Medical Mission was launched in partnership with the veterinary offices of the local governments of the City of Baliwag, Paombong, and Pulilan; Vets Love Nature, the Philippine Veterinary Medical Association, and the Univet Nutrition and Animal Healthcare Company (UNAHCO).
