Aumentado distributes hybrid rice seeds, fertilizers

“We are doing interventions to alleviate the increasing price of rice,” said Aumentado.

The distribution of rice seeds and the second fertilizer discount voucher rollout at the covered court of Barangay Bayongan, San Miguel, Bohol is a project of the Department of Agricultural-Central Visayas (DA-7).

Bohol is the first province in the Central Visayas to conduct an FDV rollout.

The FDV rollout benefited farmers from 45 towns in Bohol, said Aumentado.

Of the P153-million target budget allocation, Bohol will get P73 million for the fertilizers and P80 million for the rice seeds that will be distributed to its 30,793 farmer beneficiaries.

“I am happy with the move of our President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to implement the Masagana Rice Industry Development Program of the Department of Agriculture.  The goal of our President is to improve our national rice sufficiency which is also the goal of our province,” said Aumentado.

The governor said the province has allocated P30 million for rice seeds and P30 million for fertilizers that will be distributed to rice farmers, said Aumentado.

He noted that the rice farmers in the province have been yielding a good harvest despite the El Niño phenomenon.

“In the past semester, we had a yield of 3.6 metric tons per hectare which was more than the usual 2.73 metric tons  per hectare. We will continue to pray that our farmers will continue to have a good harvest and hopefully, the El Niño will not affect our rice production,” said Aumentado.
