Napolcom: 5,641 applicants passed PNP admission test; 5,722 cops passed promotion exam
A total of 5,641 applicants passed the entrance examination for the Philippine National Police (PNPE) while 5,722 policemen made it to the promotional exams, the National Police Commission (Napolcom) disclosed on Thursday, Sept. 21.
In a statement, the Napolcom said both the PNPE and the promotional exams were held on June 17 and 18 with a total of 37,859 taking the tests in 30 exam centers across the country.
Napolcom said the passers for the PNPE represents 20.21 percent of the total number of examinees which is 27,908 while those who passed the promotional exams represent 57.50 percent of those who took the test, which is 9,951.
Of the 5,722 police officers who successfully passed the promotional examinations, 50 of them passed the promotion for Police Major and Police Lieutenant Colonel; 231 passed the promotion for Police Lieutenant and Police Captain; 3,099 passed the promotion for the Police Master Sergeant, Police Senior Master Sergeant, Police Chief Master Sergeant and Police Executive Master Sergeant; and, 2,322 passed the promotions for Police Corporal and Police Staff Sergeant.
“The eligibility conferred upon passing the PNPE Examination is one of the requirements for appointment in the PNP as a Patrolman/Patrolwoman, while passing the corresponding promotional examination is a requirement for promotion to a higher rank,” the Napolcom statement read.
The Napolcom also assured the public that its examination system is ready to detect and address examination anomalies using answer pattern analysis.
