Manila LGU distributes financial aid to 55 rice vendors
The local government of Manila distributed financial assistance to 55 rice vendors at the San Andres Sports Complex in Malate, Manila on Thursday, Sept. 21.
Manila Vice Mayor John Marvin Yul Servo-Nieto, together with Manila Market Administrator Zenaida Mapoy, led the distribution of P15,000 cash aid to each qualified rice retailer.
Manila LGU said that it targets to distribute cash aid for the second batch of retailers next week while still waiting for the final list of the next beneficiaries.
Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan first led the distribution of cash aid, together with the Department of Trade Industry (DTI), to 192 rice retailers in the city on Sept. 14.
The P15,000 cash came from the DTI as monetary assistance to all rice retailers affected by the implementation of price ceiling on rice.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. earlier signed Executive Order (EO) No. 39 setting the price cap at P41 for regular milled rice and P45 for well-milled rice.
