1 dead, 2 hurt in Cadiz City road crash

BACOLOD CITY – A tricycle driver died and two others were injured in a collision with a truck in Puting Tubig, Barangay Daga, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental on Tuesday, September 19.

Police identified the fatality as Rogelio Ore Jr. of Barangay Bonifacio, Cadiz City.

Injured were Mila Española and Carlos Meguel Gallego, residents of Barangay Minapasok, Calatrava, Negros Occidental, and passengers of the truck.

Police Lt. Col. Gil John Despi, Cadiz police chief, said that according to the truck driver,  Rolando Sapa, he avoided the tricycle when it changed its lane on the opposite direction.

However, the tricycle suddenly returned to its original lane, causing a head-on-collision with the truck. The two vehicles ended up in a canal, Despi said.

Ore was declared dead in a hospital.

Despi said both parties have entered into an initial settlement.
