CEBU CITY – Officials of an elementary school in Barili, Cebu were shocked when they found out that one of their teachers was arrested for illegal drugs.
Sheila Ares, principal of Mantalongon Elementary School, said they didn’t hear any reports or notice that 39-year-old teacher Glenn Pacaldo was involved in peddling illegal drugs.
Pacaldo was arrested in a buy-bust operation on Sunday, September 17, in Barangay Kalubihan, Barili.
Suspected shabu worth P2,040 was seized from the teacher, police said.
Ares said the Department of Education-Barili District Office 2 will conduct an investigation to determine the possible sanction that will be meted against Pacaldo.
She added that Pacaldo is known as a good teacher and was an active participant when the school hosted anti-illegal drug symposiums.
Ares said Pacalado had asked permission that he would be absent last Wednesday to have his skin infection checked in Cebu City.
Pacaldo had just returned to the town on Sunday when Barili police led by Police Capt. Crisanto Arreglo arrested him.
Barili police, headed by Police Major Janus Giangan, is conducting further investigation to identify the teacher's supplier of illegal drugs.
