TACLOBAN CITY – The Police Regional Office-8 (Eastern Visayas) condemned the recent killing of the chairman of Barangay Anagasi, Paranas, Samar by suspected members of the New People's Army.
The victim, Tito Llamado, 59, was a reelectionist in the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections next month.
"The fear of the CTG’s return of control in Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAs) shall strengthen our resolve to end the communist terrorism by bringing the remnants of the NPA into the folds of law," the PRO-8 said.
"We assure the public that the sacrifice and courage of the victim to return and embrace a legitimate government shall not be placed in complete ruin and desolation as we will maintain and intensify our anti-insurgency and peace-keeping efforts," PRO-8 added.

Initial investigation disclosed that the victim and his wife Remedios were tending to their farm when the gunmen appeared and shot Llamado.
