EdukSine is a streaming platform that showcases relevant Filipino films that strengthen our cultural roots and narratives.
These pre-arranged screenings are held in schools, government offices, companies, and organizations, including those in mountainous and coastal villages.
Aside from providing contextual and transformative film content to audiences, the platform gives sustainable support to independent film producers and directors.
Bayan Innovation Group (BIG), one of four member foundations of the Bayan Family of Foundations ecosystem, is a management consultancy that focuses on advancing social entrepreneurship.
BIGโs command of educational content and EdukSineโs mastery of films and productionย are considered a winning formula in social advocacy.
โWe are out to craft new content for Filipinos as we broaden our reach from screening and streaming to content creation,โ says EdukSineโs Founder and CEO, Karen Salutan-Krukover.
Karen understands that entrepreneurship isnโt precisely a big theme in films.
โWe want to mine this opportunity to grow social entrepreneurship in the country through the combined efforts of BIG and EdukSine,โ she says.
The partnership aligns much with EdukSineโs advocacy of education through film.
It all began when EdukSine enlisted as one of the many participants in StartUp QC, a government-led initiative that aims to uplift entrepreneurs while developing their business models through intensive incubation.
Out of 70 entries, StartUp QC narrowed down its choices to the Top 5, consisting of Bamboo Impact Lab, EdukSine, Indigo Research, ITOOH Homestyle, and Wika.
Mayor Belmonte cited these startups as possessing extraordinary potential that can help make the city an Innovation and Startup Capital of the Philippines. By far, in 2022 alone, EdukSine has hosted 131 digital block screenings with 275,000 views. It was also the recipient
of a P3.9 million grant from the Department of Science and Technology.
Mayor Joy said EdukSine showcases creativity and heritage in the city.
โWe are looking forward to collaborating with more schools and companies,โ says Karen.
Partnership can come in the form of film festivals, workshops, and the production of original films towards a more transformative influence on Filipino society. Follow EdukSine and Bayan Family ofย Foundations on Facebook.
