Missing barangay captain found dead

ILOILO CITY – A barangay captain who went missing for a week was found dead in Barangay Tacayan, Tapaz, Capiz.

The body of Wennie Dimas of Barangay Aglupacan, Tapaz was found floating on a river by a barangay tanod (watchman).

The Tapaz Municipal Police Station said the victim’s body was already in an advanced state of decomposition when discovered and was not initially identified.

His family later identified him through his clothing.

The 29-year-old Dimas was last seen alive on September 13 by two relatives when they parted ways to get construction materials for the barangay water system they were constructing.

Police surmised that Dimas was on his way home when something happened to him. He was reported missing to authorities the following day on September 14.
