LWUA's high-level dialogue focuses on water security solutions

The profound issue of water security in the country was tackled and addressed in “Every Drop Counts: A High-Level Dialogue for a Water-Secure Country”, an event held by the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) on Monday, Sept. 18.

In a statement, luminaries, visionaries, and crucial stakeholders gathered to discuss ways to secure the future of water resources in the Philippines. The talk featured three panel discussions on Finance and Water Security, Water Governance and Digitalization, Technology, and Infrastructure.

Senator Grace Poe, the event’s Guest of Honor, highlighted the importance of creating a participative action plan to protect the country’s water resources.

Along with that, were esteemed keynote speakers who presented possible strategies linked with Water Security.

Professor Mely Caballero-Anthony underscored the relationship between water and the well-being of the community through “Water Security as Critical Core to Human Security”.

A call to action for greater inclusivity and gender equity in water management initiatives was addressed by Congresswoman Bernadette Herrera; she mentioned that women have an important role in creating a water-secure country.

Israeli Ambassador Ilan Fluss also discussed a few innovative solutions that can solve the problems in water management. According to Fluss, water security can be fortified by technology.

At the national government level, Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Undersecretary Carlos P. David expounded on the aspect of Water Governance and how it ensures sustainability in the nation’s water resources.

Finally, Department of Finance (DOF) Assistant Secretary Glenda R. Rumohr-Figueroa linked Finance with Water Security, and that this collaboration would shed light on a meaningful economic transformation.

Through this dialogue event, experts and stakeholders alike have united to innovate and create newer steps for the country’s water-rich future.

Over 400 enthusiastic attendees participated in “Every Drop Counts”, which was said to have been a testament to their dedication and commitment to the cause.

The event was moderated by Award-winning broadcaster Ms. Mitzi Borromeo and presented by Aboitiz, Standards Systems Water and Wastewater Technologies, and Tubig Pilipinas.
