Railways experts from Japan have visited the Philippine National Railways (PNR) to observe the daily operation and maintenance of the trains.
Department of Transportation Undersecretary for Road Transport and Infrastructure Anneli R. Lontoc said the railway experts were sent by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for them to be familiarized with the current railway system of the Philippines, particularly the PNR.
“The visit is aimed at generating new training materials to further hone the skills of Filipinos towards better quality train services in the Philippines,” said Lontoc.
The visit on Tuesday, Sept. 19, came amid the ongoing clearing operations and maintenance activities on the PNR railway tracks.
Meanwhile, the PNR announced that its trains with Calamba to San Pablo route resumed at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 20.
On the other hand, the Lucena City to San Pablo route resumed at 5:50 p.m. on Wednesday.
“Starting September 21, the normal operations for these routes will resume,” the PNR statement read. (Trixee Rosel)
