Converge lets go of Jeron Teng

Jeron Teng will no longer be part of the Converge FiberXers in the upcoming PBA Commissioner's Cup, the team announced on Tuesday, Sept. 19.

Jeron Teng will no longer be part of the Converge FiberXers in the upcoming PBA Commissioner's Cup, the team announced on Tuesday, Sept. 19.

Teng’s contract expired last Aug. 31, with the Converge management opting not to sign him for the next season which opens on Nov. 5.

The 6-foot-2 former De La Salle standout recorded 13.63 points, 4.25 rebounds and 3.63 assists per game in the PBA on Tour.

He was drafted by the Alaska Aces as fifth overall pick in the 2017 draft and made a deadly combination with forward Calvin Abueva.

The following year, Teng, Abueva, along with Chris Banchero and import Mike Harris propelled the Aces to the PBA Governors' Cup Finals but unfortunately succumbed to the Magnolia Hotshots, 4-2.

Teng averaged 10.3 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists in his five-year stint with Alaska.

Teng is now an unrestricted free agent, which allows him to play for another club or bring his talent overseas.
