The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), a convergence of winds from the northern and southern hemispheres where rain-bearing clouds form, will continue to bring rain showers to parts of the country in the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Tuesday, Sept. 19.

PAGASA said cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may affect Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.

Flash floods and landslides due to moderate to heavy rains may affect these areas, PAGASA warned.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

PAGASA also advised the public to remain vigilant of possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

Weather specialist Grace Castañeda said PAGASA has not monitored a low pressure area (LPA) inside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) that may affect the country as of Tuesday.

However, Castañeda has not ruled out the possibility of an LPA developing in the next few days. (Lizst Torres Abello)
