The Philippine Amateur Baseball Association (PABA) guns for a podium finish despite the daunting tasks that lie ahead in the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.

PABA Secretary General Pepe Muñoz said this is the perfect time to make their presence felt after missing the last three editions of the quadrennial meet.
“We’re looking forward to it. We deserve to be in the Asian Games,” said Muñoz who graced the PSA Forum alongside players Adrian Bernardo and Jenald Pareja on Tuesday, Sept. 19, at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Manila.
“The Asian Games is very important because it has a very big impact on our world ranking. And we get the chance to compete and show who we are,” he added.
The Filipino batters, ranked No. 36 in the world, need to win just one out of their two group stage matches to advance to the second round.
That, however, could be easier said than done as they were bracketed with world No. 1 Japan and No. 23 China.
