Mayor Honey lights up 70 new streetlights from Roxas Boulevard to Taft Avenue

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan led the lighting of 70 new streetlights from Roxas Boulevard to Taft Avenue on Monday, Sept. 18.
The street-lighting ceremony was held on Quirino Avenue on Monday night where she was joined by Manila City Engineer Armand Andres, Manila Vice Mayor John Marvin "Yul Servo" Nieto, Manila City electrician Randy Sadac, and Chairman Jaime Adriano.
In her short message, she said the lighting of the road was in response to requests made by residents and barangay officials whose jurisdiction covers the said areas.
"Napakadilim po kasi dito at marami sa ating mga kababayan, lalo na ang mga barangay officials na nakakasakop, ay talagang hiling na sana lumiwanag dito (It's very dark here and many of our locals, especially the barangay officials here, really want to see light here)," she said.

Lacuna-Pangan assured the residents and motorists that the city government will continue providing the best possible service, with a call for them to do their parts in helping the administration achieve success in their programs.
"Ito na ang katuparan ng inyong kahilingan, dahil sa masinop na pag-aalaga ng pondo ng inyong pamahalaan (This is the fulfillment of your request due to the prudent management of your government funds)," she said.
She underscored that well-lit areas are favorable for motorists and are expected to dissuade criminal elements from carrying out their activities.
The city government said the lit area covers 10 barangays at a length of 965 square meters.
The mayor also took the opportunity to request the residents and barangay authorities to take good care of the lights and make sure they are always working and free from all forms of vandalism.
"Pakiusap po namin sa inyo... ito ay pinaghirapan nating lahat kaya sana ay panatilihin nating maliwanag ang parteng ito. 'Wag kayong mag- alala dahil uunti-untiin natin ang kahabaan ng Quirino (We're begging you... this is what we all worked for so please keep this part clear. Don't worry because we will gradually extend the length of Quirino)," Lacuna-Pangan assured.
She also thanked the city government's partners from the private sector, particularly Manila Electric Company (Meralco), for their continued support.
