Man killed, 2 hurt in Cauayan City shooting

CAUAYAN CITY, Isabela – A 41-year-old man was shot dead and two others, including a barangay chairman, were wounded while on their way home in Barangay San Francisco here on Sunday night, September 17.

The Police Regional Office-2 identified the fatality as Marlon Quijano, a resident of Barangay San Francisco, and the wounded as Joseph Benigno, 53, chairman of Barangay Daburrab here, and Elpidio Camongao Jr., 47, of Barangay San Francisco.

Initial investigation said that unidentified motorcycle-riding suspects shot the victims one after the other.

Gunmen fled to an unknown direction.

Victims were taken to the hospital where Quijano was declared dead.

Dragnet operation is underway for the arrest of the suspects.

Police have yet to determine the motive of the incident.
