TACLOBAN CITY – Civil Disturbance Management (CDM) units from six provinces and two cities in Eastern Visayas showcased their skills in handling protests and other civil disturbances during the Police Regional Office-8 CDM Competition on Tuesday, September 19.
The Leyte Police Provincial Office (LPPO) was the overall champion.
The Tacloban City Police Office (TCPO) was the first runner-up and Ormoc City Police Office (OCPO) was the second runner-up.
The TCPO topped the inspection phase, Biliran PPO the demonstration phase, and LPPO the problem-solving phase.
The competition was part of the Police Regional Office-8's preparations for the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections next month.
The CDM tilt tested the ability of the police in exercising judgment in difficult situations.
Civil disturbance management handles incidents such as violent protests, hostage incidents, or riots.
