Philippine women’s national football team captain Hali Long and World Cup history maker Sarina Bolden banner the 21-member roster for Asian Games this September in Hangzhou, China.
The world No. 44 Filipinas flew to China a day prior ahead of the Asiad, where they were tangled with South Korea, Myanmar and Hong Kong in Group E.
Racing against time, the Nationals are set to make their official debut in the Asian Games with newly appointed head coach Mark Torcaso.
The Filipinas rotation boasts the World Cup players in the lineup which includes Sara Eggesvik, who delivered the brilliant pass to Bolden for the Philippines’ first goal at the world meet, while reliable strikers and defenders Katrina Guillou, Sofia Harrison and Quinley Quezada also made the cut.
Returning to the mix is Camille Rodriguez along with Chandler McDaniel, who is back in full health after suffering a torn ACL, is also looking to help the Philippines advance to the next round of the continental tournament.
The Philippines will open its campaign against Hong Kong on Friday, Sept. 22 before taking on world No. 20 South Korea three days later.
The Filipinas then are set to wrap up the elimination round with a rematch against Myanmar, which booted them out of the Southeast Asian Games podium.
