Farmer dies after being electrocuted in Quezon


MULANAY, Quezon – A 45-year-old farmer died and his nephew was injured after they were electrocuted in Barangay Mangahan, this town, on Monday afternoon, September 18. 

Police identified the fatality as Edwin Pereyra and the injured as Angelo Gacula, also a farmer, and residents of Barangay Mangahan.

Investigation said Gacula was walking on a rice field carrying a steel plow to cultivate his farm.

But the steel plow accidentally touched a hanging electric wire and was electrocuted.

Pereyra rushed to help his nephew but he, too, was electrocuted.

They sustained injuries and taken by relatives to a clinic where Pereyra was declared dead and Gacula is undergoing treatment.
