DepEd 'hopeful' for approval of 2024 budget proposal
The Department of Education (DepEd) remained hopeful that its proposed budget for next year will be approved without much “hindrances.”

During the Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon public briefing on Tuesday, Sept. 19, DepEd Assistant Secretary and Deputy Spokesperson Francis Cesar Bringas expressed hope for the approval of the agency's budget in the upcoming plenary hearing for next year.
“Hopefully, dun sa ating plenary hearing on Sept. 26, ay magiging smooth at wala nang masyadong hindrances para sa approval budget ng DepEd. (Hopefully, in our plenary hearing on Sept. 26, it will be smooth and there will be fewer hindrances to the approval of the DepEd budget),” Bringas said.
He explained that the Committee for Appropriations, during the Committee Hearing for the 2024 budget of the department, already made several clarifications.
“We were also asked to submit additional documents to explain or to justify some items in our budget and we have complied with those requirements,” Bringas said.
Early this month, the Senate Committee on Finance approved DepEd’s proposed 2024 budget amounting to P758.6 billion.
