College student nabbed in La Carlota City drug sting

BACOLOD CITY – Police arrested a college student in a buy-bust operation in Barangay II, La Carlota City, Negros Occidental on Monday, September 18.

Police identified the suspect as Jayvee Porquez, 27, of Barangay II, tagged as the Top 8 drug personality in the city.

Confiscated from the suspect were three grams of suspected shabu worth P20,400 and the P500 marked money.

Police Lt. Col. Lowell Garinganao, La Carlota police chief, said the suspect was a high-value individual who had been under monitoring for a while.

Garinganao said the suspect previously surrendered under “Oplan: Tokhang” as an alleged drug user. But he allegedly later started engaging in the illegal drugs trade.

His name would usually be mentioned by some arrested drug suspects, Garinganao said, adding that the suspect was also one of the city’s watch-listed and target-listed drug personalities.

Charges for sale and illegal possession of dangerous drugs were filed against the suspect on Tuesday, September 19. He has yet to comment on the allegations against him.
