Manila LGU to build Go Negosyo Center at the City Hall

The Manila City Council announced on Monday, Sept. 18 that it passed City Resolution No. 416 which authorizes the local government to establish a Go Negosyo Center within the premises of the Manila City Hall.
The city resolution was filed by Councilor Raymondo R. Yupangco and was passed last Sept. 12 in a regular session presided over by Manila Vice Mayor John Marvin "Yul Servo" Nieto.
The resolution will include a data-sharing scheme through a data bank that will be the source of all the information and services necessary for the project monitoring, research and policy studies essential to prospective and existing entrepreneurs and investors.
During the session, Councilor Raymondo R. Yupangco from the 5th District filed the resolution and pointed out that the Go Negosyo could revitalize the local industries, particularly the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Manila.
Manila Mayor Maria Sheilah “Honey” H. Lacuna-Pangan also signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA ) with the Department of Trade and Industry-National Capital Region Office (DTI-NCRO) on projects that will be beneficial to all MSMEs under the passed resolution.
The city government said that when the center becomes operational, it will help underscore the importance of the Barangay Micro Business Enterprises (BMBEs) Act of 2002 or the provision of assistance and incentives to qualified MSMEs in sustaining their business operations.
The resolution is also in line with Republic Act (RA) 10644 or the “Go Negosyo Act” which enumerates the importance of establishing facilities that encourage local job creation, production, and trade in the country.
The DTI launched the Negosyo Center program in 2014 for the training, upscaling, and reskilling of existing and would-be entrepreneurs and assist them in accessing other available programs of the government and other private organizations to encourage entrepreneurship across the country.
