300 families homeless in Zamboanga City fire

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Three-hundred families lost their homes in a four-hour fire that hit a residential area in Barangay Arena Blanco here on Monday, September 18.

Initial report from the Bureau of Fire Protection said that around 100 houses in Campung Landang and Sibictul were lost in the blaze.

Profiling is being conducted by the City Social Welfare and Development Office to determine the number of victims.

The fire started at 8:39 a.m. and reached third alarm. Fire out was declared at 12:55 p.m.

Mayor John Dalipe visited the area and ordered the immediate delivery of assistance to fire victims.

No casualties were reported. Estimated damage to property was P1.25 million.

Arson probers are still probing the cause of the fire.
