Tot drowns in river

BACOLOD CITY – A three-year-old girl died after she drowned in a river beside her house in Sitio Tikoy-tikoy, Barangay Cabacungan, La Castellana, Negros Occidental on Friday, September 15.

Police withheld the name of the victim.

Police Major Nelson Amsiwen Jr., La Castellana police chief, said the victim was left by her mother at her grandmother’s house nearby.

But the victim followed her mother when she left and went to the river.

Amsiwen said the victim was swept by the strong river current and she was found a few hours later in Sitio Obay, Barangay Cabacungan, about a kilometer away from her house.

The victim was taken to the hospital where she was declared dead.
