iACADEMY, a frontrunner in innovative education, is poised to embark on an unprecedented venture with DigiPlus, a renowned retail gaming provider, to revolutionize game development education.

iACADEMY President and CEO Vanessa Tanco and DigiPlus chief operating officer (COO) Tommy Hu met last Sept. 12 to formalize an inspiring partnership that promises to reshape the educational landscape.

Under the partnership, DigiPlus will extend its expertise and knowledge as it participates in the establishment of a state-of-the-art game development lab, amplifying opportunities for iACADEMY students to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and hands-on application.

“The participation by DigiPlus in the game development lab is a testament of our dedication to education, innovation, and harnessing the limitless potential of the Filipino youth. Together, iACADEMY and DigiPlus are poised to ignite a new era in education, where students are not just scholars, but pioneers and creators of a brighter, more dynamic future,” said Hu.

Hu said the partnership commits to an experiential education with a game development lab that will serve as a dynamic space where students can bring their imaginative concepts to life, working on live projects and gaining invaluable practical experience.

This hands-on approach is poised to equip students with skills that extend far beyond textbooks, preparing them for the dynamic demands of the modern professional landscape.

The game development lab will be meticulously tailored to meet the evolving and growing needs of industries that drive economic progress. With access to cutting-edge technologies, workshops, and mentorship from industry experts, students will be poised to excel in fields such as programming, app development, and design. This ensures that graduates are not only knowledgeable but also immediately applicable in the job market.

For DigiPlus, its participation in the game development lab symbolizes a commitment to nurturing talent and fostering collaboration. The partnership will facilitate hands-on projects, workshops, and mentorship opportunities, where DigiPlus experts will work closely with iACADEMY students. This interaction will not only hone students' skills but also provide them with invaluable insights into industry best practices.

iAcademy explained that the game development lab represents more than just a physical space as it  signifies the institution’s mission to prepare students for success in a rapidly evolving world. Graduates will emerge not only with a diploma but also with a portfolio of hands-on projects that demonstrate their capacity to innovate and create.

According to the Philippine Software Industry Association (PSIA), recent data indicates that there is a projected global demand for 149 million new jobs in the field of computing by the year 2025, with approximately 98 million of these positions dedicated to software development.

Further, over the past decade, the online gaming industry has experienced remarkable growth, with market projections indicating a value of 3.6 billion by 2025. Studies suggest that with ongoing technological advancements, the future of gaming holds great promise, particularly with innovations like AI, virtual reality, and the metaverse poised to transform the sector.
