PNP pursuing good leads into the killing of female Abra lawyer
Police investigators are pursuing good leads on the investigation into the killing of a female lawyer in Bangued, Abra on Thursday, Sept. 14.
Gen. Benjamin Acorda, Jr., chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), said they also have persons of interest that are now the focus of the investigation to identify the killers and the motive behind the killing of Maria Saniata Liwliwa Alzate.
Alzate was on board his car in Bangued on Thursday when gunmen started shooting her. She was declared dead in a hospital after suffering at least eight bulletwounds.
“We are pursuing good leads. We are focusing on some persons and hopefully we can come up with a stronger pronouncement soon,” said Acorda.
Acorda would not say if the killing is election-related but said that the victim was passionate in her advocacies.
“She was very vocal when it comes to rights and we are looking to that but with regards if it’s election related, let us wait for the result of the investigation,” said Acorda.
