Parañaque LGU adopts QRPh for online payment services

Published Sep 16, 2023 06:05 am

The Parañaque city government adopted the use of QRPh for its online payment services on business taxes, real property taxes, and other miscellaneous fees.

According to Mayor Eric Olivarez, the use of QRPh was adopted by the city government to fully optimize the benefits brought by the digital economy in the local government unit (LGU) level and make the payment process easier for their taxpayers.

"The City of Parañaque supports the government's action towards promoting an inclusive economic growth in the Philippines. Through the integration of QRPh in Parañaque's online payment services, we are assured that any payments or transactions done with the local government will be secured and seamless for better customer experience," Olivarez said.

Olivarez said several of the innovative and agile business solutions such as Online Appointment System, Online Business Permit Application for New and Renewal, and Online Payment and Assessment have been implemented by the Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) under Atty. Melanie Soriano-Malaya.

He said the BPLO is implementing the business solution as part of its eGovernance programs in compliance with Republic Act No. 11032 or the Ease of Doing Business Law of 2018.

Malaya explained that, according to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Circular No. 1055 series of 2019 on the adoption of a National Quick Response (QR) Code Standard, the QRPh is designed to standardize the use of QR codes in various government transactions.

She said it allows a common QR code to be scanned and interpreted by any participating bank or EMI mobileapp for fund transfers and payments.

The BPLO chief further explained that the QRPh provides any transacting individuals or businesses with added security feature to ensure safe, efficient and reliable online payment systems in the Philippines.

Olivarez said the city government, in partnership with Maya Philippines as one of the participating merchant banks in the QRPh, pioneered the use of a digitally- enabled platform where customers can avail of the local government services whether for personal or business transaction in a more convenient way without physically going to City Hall.

Malaya added that the LGU will continue to work with the national government and private sector in its commitment to align policies and efforts to further promote literacy and access to finance in the local government.

“As we have done in the past, the Paranaque City LGU will continue to innovate and improve its services – especially in the digital realm – to better improve our frontline services to the public,” Malaya said.

Malaya said the list of updated person-to-merchant participants in QRPh can be accessed thru BSPwebsite at www.bsp.gov.ph.

She added for more detailes/ inquiries they can also visit the BPLO official website at www.bploparanaque.com or email at [email protected].
