Malacañang has condemned the killing of lawyer Maria Saniata Liwliwa Gonzales Alzate and assured that law enforcement agencies will bring her killers to justice.

Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin said this following reports that Alzate was shot by two still-unidentified men riding a motorcycle while inside her parked car outside her house on Sept. 15.
She was taken to a hospital, where she was declared dead.
In a statement on Saturday, Sept. 16, Bersamin assured the public that Alzate's killers would be brought to justice as he asked them to "remain vigilant."
"We join our brothers and sisters in the legal profession in condemning the killing of Atty. Alzate, who was mercilessly gunned down in front of her home," he said.
"We will ensure that our law enforcement agencies will work relentlessly to bring to justice those behind this heinous act," he added, noting that hot pursuit operations were already ongoing.
The former Supreme Court Chief Justice said they were saddened by Alzate's passing and joined her family and friends in mourning her death.
"We are one with the family of Atty. Maria Saniata Liwliwa Gonzales Alzate in this time of grief, and we offer them our most sincere and heartfelt condolences," he said.
Bersamin described Alzate as a "fearless and steadfast" lawyer and described her death as a "tragedy."
"She was a fearless and steadfast lawyer, principled in her practice of law and unrelenting in her pursuit of justice. She worked tirelessly both as a public interest lawyer and as a commissioner of bar discipline," he said.
"Her death is a tragedy as well for the good province of Abra and for the legal profession," he added.
