House Deputy Majority Leader and ACT-CIS Party-list Rep. Erwin Tulfo is calling for a review by Congress of all franchises of power companies--including electric cooperatives--in country.

This, as Tulfo expressed frustration in a Facebook post Friday, Sept. 15 over what he called the "almost daily brown outs from Luzon to Mindanao".

"Panahon na talaga para rebyuhin ng Congress [House] at Senate ang lahat ng franchise ng mga power companies sa buong bansa," he wrote in all caps.

(It's really time for the House of Representatives and Senate to review all the franchise of power companies in the country.)

"Wag niyo [sabihin] coincidence o nagkataon lang at sabay-sabay lagi ang walang kuryente? Halos pare-pareho din ang dahilan? Pumutok o nagtrip ang breaker???!!!" Tulfo asked.

(Don't tell us that it was all a coincidence that all of you didn't have electricity? And that you all have the same reason? The breaker exploded or tripped???!!!)

The popular broadcaster gave "special mention" to the Peninsula Electric Cooperative (Penelco) of Bataan, ang Palawan Electric Cooperative (Paleco), and the Davao Oriental Electric Cooperative (Doreco) in Davao Oriental as examples of problematic electric cooperatives.

"Araw-araw na kasi at ilang oras walang kuryente (The brown outs occur everyday and take a few hours)...it's high time we fix this problem once and for all," Tulfo said.
