Mayor Honey implements liquor ban for 2023 Bar Examinations
Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan imposed a liquor ban in areas near San Beda University and University of Santo Tomas for the upcoming bar examinations on Sept. 17, 20, and 24.

The mayor signed on Sept. 4 Executive Order No. 24 imposing a liquor ban within 500 meters of the two universities in Mendiola and España Avenue in Manila on the following dates and times:
From midnight of Sept. 16 until 10 p.m. of Sept. 17; midnight of Sept. 19 until 10 p.m. of Sept. 20; and midnight of Sept. 23 until 10 p.m. of Sept. 24.
Under the EO, ambulant vendors are prohibited in the said areas on the following dates:
From Sept. 16 until midnight of Sept. 18; Sept. 19 until midnight of Sept. 21; and Sept. 23 until Sept. 25 midnight.
A noise control and mitigation plan was also included in the EO, which follows the same dates for ambulant vendor prohibition.
Also banned during the given dates is the use of all equipment that emits loud and disturbing sounds, such as videoke, karaoke, and speakers.
"Persons or groups of persons causing loud noises and unnecessary sounds or alarms shall likewise be banned," the EO read.
Disruptive activities were also banned during the same dates, such as mass gatherings, parades, salubong, parties, and other activities that create loud noise.
The local chief issued the EO to maximize the concentration and focus of the bar examinees.
