LLDA chief's no-show at Senate hearing irks Alan Cayetano
Senator Alan Peter Cayetano on Friday, September 15, scored Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA) acting general manager Senando Santiago for his absence in the hearing of the Senate Committee on Government Corporations and Public Enterprises.

Cayetano made his disappointment known to the LLDA officials who came to the hearing.
The senator told the officials their head did not even make any courtesy call and just called up late last night (Thursday) to inform his committee that he cannot make it.
“The basis of relationship is respect. If he has no respect for this committee, I have no respect for him either, right)?” an irked Cayetano said.
According to the senator, all Senate committees send notices at least three days ahead of the scheduled hearing so that invited resource persons have enough time to communicate with the panel. Cayetano suspended the hearing.
Later, in an interview, the senator stressed the need for a briefing with the LLDA considering that the new Marcos administration has just appointed him as general manager.
The committee was supposed to inquire into the updates on the programs and projects, and all issues and challenges affecting the Laguna Lake.
Cayetano’s committee is also supposed to tackle Senate Bill No. 1619, or the proposed Laguna Lake Conservation Act filed by Sen. Ramon “Bong” Revilla, Jr.
Several fishermen were also present during the hearing, apparently to raise some issues with the LLDA, the lawmaker said.
“This person does not know how to respect…he has to learn how to respect the institution,” Cayetano stressed.
