It looks like Korean brand Gentle Monster is about to open a store in Manila

Korean stars Jun Ji-hyun and Jennie as well as music royalties Rihanna and Madonna have been spotted wearing the brand's pieces

After being spotted by eagle-eyed Filipino Tiktok users, Gentle Monster’s arrival to the Philippines looks pretty legit after Bonifacio Global City posted snaps of its local shop. According to the post, the Korean eyewear brand’s store is located at One Bonifacio High Street Park, 5th Ave., in Taguig City.

Founded in 2011 by Hankook Kim in Seoul, Gentle Monster is known for producing eyewear pieces that are both classic and futuristic. Its goal is to provide eyeglasses and shades that suit Korean facial features and styles.

The brand became popular as Korean stars don its pieces on the red carpet and Korean series. Actress Jun Ji-hyun wore Gentle Monster pieces on the Korean show “My Love From the Star.” It is also one of the go-to brands of Blackpink’s Jennie.

Soon enough, big names in the fashion and music scenes started wearing Gentle Monster eyewear, which include Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Lil Nas X, Billie Eilish, Beyoncé, and Madonna, to name a few. Its campaigns have also featured Oscar winner Tilda Swinton. It has also produced collaboration collections with international brands such as Paris-based labels D'heygere and Maison Margiela.

Currently, Gentle Monster has opened stores in Hong Kong, New York, and Los Angeles. For now, the opening date of its BGC store is yet to be announced.
