"This is a combined festival of two events in which the Los Banos Community Foundation Incorporated (LPCFI) consists of twenty-five member agencies whose mandate is related to science, technology, and innovation," Regional Director of DOST-Calabarzon Emelita Bagsit said on Friday, Sept. 15 in a public briefing.

This year's RSTW conference theme, “Siyensya, Teknolohiya at Inobasyon: Kabalikat sa Matatag, Maginhawa at Panatag na Kinabukasan” aims to showcase both the organization and the foundation’s science, technology, and innovation (STI) efforts through exhibits, contests, forums, and other activities.

To kick off the celebration, the “SyenSaya Hakbang para sa Agham Fun Run” was scheduled on Sept. 17. However, the official opening ceremony will follow on Sept. 18 at the University of the Philippines (UP) Los Baños campus in Laguna.

Bagsit explained that anyone can participate in the event, including elementary and college students, local government units (LGU), and members of the private sector, as the event has a variety of programs specifically for them.

Activities during the event include a science contest, exhibits, a technology forum of artificial intelligence (AI), a robotics tournament, a regional science and math quiz bee, and TED Talks on food processing technologies.

Other programs include “AGHAMazing Science” a talent show where they can show creative concepts related to science, and a primer on intellectual properties.

The highlight of the RSTW is the Tikme Food Bazar which means "Teknolohiya't Inobasyon Kaakibat ng mga Microenterprises," that will feature a display of various products from the Calabarzon region.

Bagsit added that individuals who are unable to attend the event but still want to see it can watch it on Facebook Live at the DOST-Calabarzon page.
