DOTr bares free MRT-3, LRT-2 rides for gov't workers from Sept 18 to 20

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) announced on Friday, Sept. 15, that government workers will receive free rides on the MRT-3 and LRT-2 from Sept. 18 to 20 in commemoration of the 123rd civil service anniversary.
In separate cautions, the administration of the two rail lines said passengers who want to avail of the free rides must present a valid government ID. The free rides will be from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
DOTr Assistant Secretary for Railways and MRT-3 Officer in Charge Jorjette Aquino said the free trips was a way to express appreciation to government employees for their service to the public.
"Kami po sa MRT-3 ay taos-pusong nakikiisa sa pagdiriwang ng anibersaryo ng Philippine Civil Service. Ang handog naming libreng sakay simpleng pasasalamat sa lahat ng mga sakripisyo ng bawat kawani ng gobyerno upang magampanan nang tapat at maayos ang kanilang mga tungkulin (We at MRT-3 are one in the celebration of the Philippine Civil Service anniversary. This is our simple way of saying thank you to the sacrifices of our civil servants in carrying out their duties)," she said.
The MRT-3 line extends from Taft Avenue in Pasay City to North Avenue in Quezon City, while the LRT-2 line reaches from Recto in Manila to Antipolo in the province of Rizal. (Trixee Rosel)
