Scattered rain showers to prevail in most of PH due to 'habagat'
The entire archipelago is still being affected by the southwest monsoon, or "habagat," said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Thursday, Sept. 14.
Due to the habagat, cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms may still be experienced in Metro Manila, Pangasinan, Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, Bicol Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Soccsksargen, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, and the whole Visayas.
Meanwhile, PAGASA said it is still monitoring a low-pressure area (LPA), which was last seen 395 kilometers east-northeast of Itbayat, Batanes.
PAGASA weather specialist Patrick Del Mundo said the LPA still has no direct effect on the country and may dissipate in 24 to 48 hours.
“Wala itong direktang epekto sa ano mang bahagi ng ating bansa at inaasahan natin na possible po itong madissipate o malusaw within the next 24 to 48 hours. (It has no direct effect to any parts of the country and is expected to possibly dissipate within the next 24 to 48 hours),” Del Mundo said.
He added that there is no new LPA being monitored inside and outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR), which can affect the country in the coming days.
For the rest of Luzon, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with chances of isolated rain showers or thunderstorms may still be expected. (Lizst Torres Abello)
