Scattered rain showers expected due to 'habagat', localized thunderstorms
Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao may continue to experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers due to the southwest monsoon or “habagat,” the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Thursday, Sept. 14.
Meanwhile, the low pressure area (LPA) inside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) still has a low chance of developing into a tropical depression, PAGASA weather specialist Chenel Dominguez said.
"Nananatili namang mababa ang tyansa nito [LPA] na maging isang ganap na bagyo. (The chance for the LPA to develop into a tropical cyclone remains low)," she said.
Dominguez said the LPA was last seen 335 kilometers east of Itbayat, Batanes around 4 p.m.
PAGASA said generally fair weather may prevail over Northern Luzon and Metro Manila with chances of localized thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening on Friday, Sept. 15.
In the western section of Visayas, cloudy skies will be experienced with scattered rain showers due to the southwest monsoon.
For the rest of Visayas and Mindanao, generally fair weather with chances of localized thunderstorms will be expected.
For the next three days, generally fair weather in most of the country is expected with chances of localized thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening. (Lizst Torres Abello)
